Everyone, within their discipline — whether architecture, urban planning, environmental design or noise reduction — plays a significant role in shaping the sound of a city. Yet, a lot of work still needs to be done. How can we, as a community of sound and noise professionals, contribute to taking better control of the urban soundscape and support sound design in noise policy?
As sound experts, it’s in our DNA to “listen to” buildings, squares, streets, and landscapes — and explore how people interact with them — and to understand how this contributes to the city’s sound and identity. What are the potentials and citizen benefits of implementing this sound-aware knowledge in daily practice? And what will it take to consider and integrate this fully in noise policy? Those are just some of the questions treated.
Soundscaping is the key term.
During this webinar, we will discuss and illustrate how we define and understand the notion of soundscaping. We invite all participants to join us for an engaging discussion at the concluding panel debate.
